7 aa · cyclic (Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH)PT-141 is a metabolite of Melanotan II with the C-terminal amide removed. It activates melanocortin receptors in the hypothalamus, which places it in a different mechanistic class from PDE5-based compounds — the effect originates in the central nervous system.
It is used in practice on sexual-function pathways, melanocortin signalling, and appetite and energy-homeostasis circuits that share the MC4 receptor.
